WON 27-24
It was nail biting start to the 2011 netball season. Leading by 6 at half time the lead was reduced to only 1 at end of 3rd quarter. Coming back in the 4th quarter to make it our first win of the year 27 to 24, GO BLACKBIRDS!
Outstanding support on the side line by our fantastic family and friends, especially our no. 1 coach Michelle Robertson being at the top of her voice, guided the team to victory GO COACH!
Amazing effort all round by the girls for the season starter with Michelle mixing it up and trying out all positions.
Our sensational shooting duo of Teresa & Ashleigh B never let us down and our magnificent fast attacking & defending mid court players of Holly, Taylor, Sarah & Sonja never short of support. To top it off a great game by Ashleigh T with her stylish ball throwing skills backed up in defence by Cassidy.

WON 26-19
Another great win girls, beating Kariong 26-19.
Only being 3 up at half time you blitz the second half to win by 7.
Michelle was pleased with the outcome and very proud of all you girls. A special mention to Taylor for coming off in the 1st quarter after a fall and returning the 3rd and 4th quarter to strengthen our mid court with great backup in support by Sarah, Holly & Sonja.
Our shooters Ashleigh B & Teresa playing a high standard leaving the supporters holding their breath at times. Also Ashleigh T & Cassidy at strength in defence.

WON 10 - 1
Another Win!!!
First game back after School Holidays, only to get a chance to play half a game due to rain;
resulting in a 10-1 win against Terrigal Wamberal Kingfish.
Coach thought the girls started out a little rusty, but started to build momentum by half time.
A shame the girls couldn’t play out the rest of the game.
All you girls should be so proud of yourselves.
From a supporter’s prospective you are a fantastic team and a pleasure to watch.

WON 37-17
A great game was played today and very entertaining to watch for the supporters of both teams.
All girls gave a solid performance and The Ourimbah Blackbirds triumphed over
The Kincumber Bobcats 37 -17.
First quarter was fairly close, but the Blackbirds found their rhythm in the second quarter and streaked ahead in the final two quarters to win convincingly.
Coach Michelle was impressed with how the girls worked well together as a team and incorporated skills learn't in training sessions.
Our Player of the Week this week goes to Holly who played in four different positions with fantastic intercepts throughout the match.
Ball skills and Match Fitness are on the agenda for the team in the coming weeks.
Keep up the great work you are all putting in as it is certainly paying dividends with
your result each week.

It was our 5th game of the year and our 5th win...
Another sensational game by the girls. With the cold wind taking control of the unexplained
passes, Coach Michelle thought her Chicken’s gave a good effort.
All the girls Teresa, Ashleigh B, Sonja, Taylor, Sarah, Ashleigh T & Holly did the job.
Cassidy had to watch from the sidelines due to an injury.
Great stamina girls with only 7 players, you all deserve a massive thumbs up from all
your supporters.

WOW! What a game, the girls played like stars...
Winning by only 3 in the first round we had a much bigger win than we thought.
All the girls played their part in the game, making difficult for Coach Michelle to single out one particular player.
A very pleasing result from her chicken’s; Teresa, Ashleigh B, Holly, Sonja, Taylor, Sarah,
Ashleigh T & Cassidy.

A slow start to the game was seen against Kariong Allstars. The girls did improve by using some of the techniques taught by Coach Michelle and started to gather momentum by half time. Third and Fourth quarter the concentration level of the team was up and down. More focus needs to be given to passing the ball and footwork. However the team won which was a pleasing result.
Keep working hard girls.
Concentration is the key!

Beat 2nd place TW Kingfish 25-15
STILL ON TOP...
1st quarter to a slow start, not focusing on the job at hand.
At the end of the 1st quarter Coach Michelle made sure no player was blocking their ears.
2nd quarter was a massive turn around and Michelle’s voice was back in fine form giving
Praise to her Chicken’s when deserved.
Michelle mixed it up in attack resulting in some good performances by Ashleigh B, Teresa,
Holly, Taylor and Sonja.
Our defence remained the same with strong positive results by
Cassidy, Ashleigh T and Sarah.

Another day at the office for the outstanding Blackbirds!
This weeks game was a mix of theatrics according to Coach Michelle.
Teresa only had eyes on the goal with great shooting, whilst Ashleigh B was doing ballerina
pirouettes on the base line. Holly showing off her power throws, putting her body on the line
and Sonja sharing some fancy footwork. Taylor doing her all over the court routine, all that
was needed was a set of bunny ears. Sarah proving intercepts are her thing, but thought a head
clash with the ground needed the attention of the crowd. Ashleigh T and Cassidy sharing their
usual defence load confusing each other at times who was getting the loose ball.
A laugh in back play made it fun.
These girls are a great team to watch and Michelle gives praise to all her Chickens when deserved.

A great effort was displayed throughout this game and it was unfortunate to loose by just two goals.
Coach Michelle feels there were several factors involved which affected the final result.
Passing, getting in front of your player and tighter defence are going to be worked on this week.

A top win by the girls! They all played a fantastic game. The wind did have advantage of the ballat times. The team stepped it up a notch with some great skills and team sportsmanship,
especially getting the ball down to our shooters.
Promised by Michelle, the girls were leading by 22 goals at the end of 3rd quarter and all decided
to play many different positions. It was a fun time for the blackbirds and wonderful to watch how
versatile they can be.
This is a very special team lead by their Coach Michelle and it is very pleasing to have the coach from
the other team saying they look forward to playing our girls as it is always clean and fun.

GRAND FINALISTS
Outstanding game by the girls, considering the weather interfered. But the Blackbirds stuck to their game
plan which resulted in a massive win. WE ARE INTO THE GRAND FINAL!!!
Michelle is very proud of her Chicken’s...it made it difficult for her to substitute players.
All the girls played a massive part in the game with the consistent arrangement of our attacking team, being
Teresa, Ashleigh B, Holly, Taylor & Sonja; and the defence playing a strong game from Sarah, Ashleigh T & Cassidy.
Good luck for the grand final girls and let’s wish Taylor Cheetham a speeding recovery from a hand injury that happened on Saturday afternoon. We hope to see her in the last game of the year. Get well soon, Taylor.

PREMIERS
Blackbirds 31 beat TW Kingfish 26
A nailbiting finish to a magnificent season by the wonderful and talented Ourimbah Blackbirds. Leading by 10 into the 3rd quarter, scores were even at the start of the 4th quarter. The girls finding that extra burst of energy half way through the 4th dug their heels in and stormed ahead to win by 5.
Outstanding effort by all the girls, with great shooting by Ashleigh Bruerton and Teresa Terlato. Magnificent control of the mid court shared by Sarah Palmer, Taylor Cheetham, Holly Walker, Sonja Suaning and heavy defence by Ashleigh Tyson and Cassidy Guest.
Big thanks to a ‘Top Coach’, Michelle Robertson...lost her voice towards the end of the game and experienced a slight case of the shakes from nerves. On behalf of myself (Larissa – Team Manager), all your Chickens and our fantastic and supporting cheer squad thank you for a great season and look forward to another one next year.
I would also like to take this opportunity in thanking all friends and families for their support week in and week out and to the Blackbirds for all your sportsmanship.
