02/04/11 10 A OUR PENGUINS v 10 A  GIS RAINBOWS
LOSS
First day of the season our excitement levels were very high…faces painted, hair sprayed, ribbons tied, and most importantly junk food eaten…check, check, check. We were all ready to play!! We started out a little slowly and as the truck load of lollies started to wreak havoc a few tiny faces turned green. The girls, all feeling very sick, kept on going quarter after quarter and to their credit tried so hard!! It was a great first game and am really looking forward to the rest of the season. Special shout out to Ellie Dark who was our Player of the week (and thanks to her Grandma who’s house they went to instead of eating lollies lol). Week 1 = Lesson 1 – NO MORE LOLLIES BEFORE OUR GAMES!!!

09/04/11 10 A OUR PENGUINS v 10 A TW STARFISH
LOSS
Terrigal Wamberal were a hard team to beat this week. Their shooters never seemed to miss. The girls had a great game….everyone worked really hard in defence and we made heaps of intercepts! Good work Jemma, Maya & Ellie for working hard in attack and in the holidays everyone’s homework is to practice their shooting.
Congratulations to Ella Woodhouse for Player of the Week.
She played so well as GD!!

30/04/11 10 A OUR PENGUINS v 10 A KIN KLASSICS
30/04/11 1/2 GAME PLAYED
LOSS 47 - 4
Good work this week girls in the rain!! We played Kincumber who are no doubt the favourites
of the comp. They have been beating all teams by really large margins. The girls kept trying
all the way to the end and Jemma and Ella scored some lovely goals.
The shooting practice in the holidays paid off!!
Our defence was really great this week too. Lots of intercepts by the defence end.
Grace was our player of the week with all her intercepts and I was especially happy
o see most of the intercepts she was getting she was using 2 hands and attacking the ball.
Can’t wait for next week….and keep practicing your shooting at home!!

07/05/11 10 A OUR PENGUINS v 10 A STHS SOUTHS
LOSS 18-9
The sideline was speechless this week at how well all the girls played…I’m not sure whether
they have been having secret training sessions without me or I was on the wrong court?? They
came out against Souths all guns blazing! Everyone was dodging away from their players,
passing nice strong shoulder passes, defending and chasing the ball. Jemma was our
star shooter – she definitely had been practising at school and it paid off!! 9 goals!! Great job girls!!
I couldn’t pick 1 player of the week this week because everyone tried so hard and played so well.
Keep that up for next week!!

14/05/11 10 A OUR PENGUINS v 10 A OLSS CHERRY BLOSSOM
LOST 17 - 2
Really good game girls! Again this week all the girls played so well. Down the court we were
really strong and worked hard in defence getting heaps and heaps of intercepts. OLSS had a really
tall and accurate shooter that helped them win the game. Natalia did a great job in our circle.
Maya played defence, attack & centre court this week and did well at all of them being
our player of the week.

21/05/11 10 B OUR PENGUINS v 10 B WN
WON 15 - 11
The girls won this week!!! Woo hoo. They played so well. I saw some really good strong shoulder passes from Gabby. Maya, Nat and Jemma scored some lovely goals (Maya made some pocket money!!). Ellie, Ella, Stacey. Hannah – saw some lovely intercepts. Grace I didn’t see any stepping and some really good work at WA.  I could only watch some of the game as my IJB’s were playing at the same time so thanks to Rach and Tina for helping me out with the girls this week. Maybe it’s me!! Ha ha

28/05/11 10 B OUR PENGUINS v 10 B CW PELICANS
LOSS 18 - 13
The girls had another great game!! Everyone worked really hard in their positions – defence, attack
and centre court. Jemma’s shooting was great again this week scoring her Player of the Week.
It was a really close game and only losing by a few at the end! Coastal Waters played well and had
some really tall players and a speedy GA that were hard to defend in the circle but we all tried our best. Good job!!

18/06/11 10 B OUR PENGUINS v 10  AP COSMICS
LOSS 19 - 7
we played a speedy Apollo team. Their GA was really strong and quick in the circle and they had a lot of tall players that we had trouble passing over. Unfortunately we lost that game but we had some stand out defenders again with Gabby and Ella. Both girls were so good I couldn’t choose between them for the player of the week!!!

25/06/11 GNA BYE
Last week we played our bye game against the 11D’s. This game doesn’t count in our ladder but they girls needed to still play hard. We need to all practice coming in front of our player to call for the ball and don’t stand still – we need to come to the ball!! Grace and Natalia were players of the week this week! Congratulations girls! We have 3 weeks off now for school holidays so keep practicing your goal shooting and I will give you some homework on Tuesday at training._______________________________________________________________________________

Thanks to the girls and parents for a great year. We had a rough start beginning the season in a higher grade but I think the move definitely did us good. We were still challenged a lot by teams but the girls skills were allowed to develop. At the beginning of the season we liked to play everywhere but as time went on we could see some girls that were naturally defenders, centre courts and Jemma, Natalia and Maya took over the role as our shooters most of the time. I think next season will be great for the girls and they hone in their skills in their positions and really work at the basics to help get the ball flowing down the court!
